daily journal: A little about my family

Dear Readers,

Hello from chilly Southwestern Wisconsin. Children are eagerly waiting to be let out of school for summer break and it’s still soo chilly here. I don’t think Winter wants to leave just yet. ( shivers )Where are you from and what is the temperature? Are they normal temps? I heard Colorado got ALOT of snow last week, that’s crazy for May!

Being as this is my first entry I will tell you more about me and my family. My name is Amy (37). I have a daughter, Katrina (14) and my life partner Jeff (43). All three of us will be involved in this blogging experience at some point or another. We have a dog named Jak Jak (5). His name is the first letter of each of our names Jeff, Amy and Katrina. We have a cat named Molly (11) and a hedgehog named Shay or  Hedgie(1). We are also aquarium enthusiasts. We have a big tank full of cichlids and my daughter’s special tank with 2 goldfish.

If you continue to follow us you will learn quickly that my partner and I have very different personalities. It must be true that opposites attract. We’ve been together for 17 years. I am a very quiet person and I avoid any type of confrontation. I just stand in the corner and hope not to be noticed. Jeff, on the other hand, is very outgoing and assertive. He doesn’t have an “off”  button. If he thinks it, he speaks it. It’s honestly embarrassing and stressful sometimes.

Katrina is growing up quick and will be off to college before I know it. If only I could figure out a way to add more days to a month. In a couple weeks she will be graduating 8th grade. I will have a high schooler this year! She really wants to start her high school years off at a new school. A school with more opportunities and people. We are currently looking into schools in Colorado. If anyone knows of a great school with 300+ high school students, that’s in a nice safe neighborhood please let me know. We might be looking into something on the west coast, just not sure yet. It’s a really tough decision. It will be scary moving someplace and not knowing anyone. But we are all in and ready to make a big move and change things up. I will have to face the anxiety head on and just do it. Katrina is much braver then I. It’s not easy being the new kid on the block. She’s gone through a lot the past couple years. Dad and I are incredibly proud of her. Bravest and strongest child I’ve ever met.

We have a lot of ideas for this blog. But the main thing is feeling connected to people and sharing fun stuff. With Jeff and I being so different the posts will be wildly out there. One day you might see a cute cat video and the next a controversial meme. You will all know who posted what XD. I might be able to convince Katrina to post as well 🙂

I’ll write again soon and can’t wait to get to know you all better.

Be well and stay safe,
